Activity Description: Participants are to build the tallest straight antenna out of PVC pipes and connectors. The ultimate task is to keep the antenna straight.
Objective: To understand the role of coordination and communication synergy
Ball Of Confusion
Activity Description: Each of the participants holds one or two strings. The ball is placed in the opening of the transport tube and the group’s task is now to use their skill to move the ball in three dimensions through the twists and turns of the tube so that the ball exits the other end of the tube and lands in the target basket.
Objective: This activity highlights the importance of changing perspectives to achieve mutual goals in teams.
Bridging The Divide
Activity Description: Each team will build part of a bridge that needs to be big, strong and stable. The construction of those parts eventually sees each team’s bridge being installed as part of a huge, extended company bridge – thus each team is not only focusing on their task but also playing their vital role in the success of a large company project. At the end, teams will have a race using a remote-controlled vehicle that will drive across the bridge.
Objective: An engaging activity with powerful metaphors, where all individuals of an organization strive towards achieving their own goals, while playing a vital role in the bigger picture. The efforts of all are literally ‘linked’ together in a demonstration of how significant just ONE is to Bridging the Divide.
Get On Board
Activity Description: A round board balanced on a pedestal with ﬁgurines will be given. Participants are to place the ﬁgurines on it and to maintain balance.
Objective: This activity talks about the concept of balance at the workplace. People experience interdependency but also deals with risk and change.
Activity Description: Teams given a board game very similar to checkers where the whole game revolves around thinking ahead and communicating as a team.
Objective: To challenge processes and to experience group consensus.
Activity Description: Participants form the tiles of a puzzle in numbers marked 1-8 and are to rearrange themselves.
Objective: To challenge processes. One must recognize changing circumstances and change with it for the better.
Activity Description: Participants are to remove tumblers with radioactive water from a marked square on the ground using only string and rubber band into the safe zone.
Objective: The power of creativity and how to manage resources.
Activity Description: Participants are asked to complete an incomplete maze. The challenge is they are told that they will have a saboteur in each group who is tasked to sabotage the completion of the maze. Regardless, teams need to work through this predicament they are in and still come out on top.
Objective: This activity highlights how trust is the most basic foundation of working in teams and without it everything will later be undermined.
Samurai Warrior Challenge
Activity Description: Participants duel in non-contact competition in a simulated samurai dojo arena that will test their mental and physical strengths.
Objective: This activity provides the simple formula to create empowered teams. They learn the importance of following a strict code of conduct, having a strong will and supporting team members.
Activity Description: Groups must build the tallest free-standing structure out of 20 sticks of spaghetti, one yard of tape, one yard of string, and one marshmallow. The marshmallow needs to be on top
Objective: This activity is a remarkably fun and instructive design exercise that encourages groups to experience simple but profound lessons in collaboration, innovation and creativity
Tower Of Power
Activity Description: 8 wooden blocks were put upright on the ﬂoor. Each team members picks up one of the ropes that are connected to a crane. The task is to use the crane to build a tower by placing the blocks on top of each other. The task appears simple, but with each block cut at a different angle and the need for all participants to work together, building the tower starts to get tricky!
Objective: This activity highlights the importance of having strong focus when completing a task. A mistake made by one person can cause the entire team to fail.
Activity Description: This activity consists of 30 sequential "pictures within pictures". Each participant is handed one picture. Participants may only look at their own pictures and must keep their pictures hidden from others. Participants are encouraged to study their picture and narrate it to the rest of the team. The challenge is for the group to sequence the pictures in the correct order without looking at one another's pictures. Once they believe all pictures are in order, the pictures will be turned over for everyone to see.
Objective: This experience from this activity shows how high performing teams requires excellent communication. Communication increases commitment and connection, without it perception may be flawed.
Activity Description: Participants are assigned to build model airplanes. They play the role of contractors bidding for an airplane contract based on the requirements of the customer. The final product will be tested and rated.
Objective: This activity highlights the importance of meeting and exceeding customer needs. To learn how asking specific questions can greatly impact the end result. Once people are able to put themselves in their customer’s shoes, it helps identify areas of service which needs improvement in their organization.
Activity Description: Each team will be given 15 wood pieces for them to assemble the Stack’Em structure. Once assembled, they are required to take it apart and rebuild the construction in the shortest time possible. They will be given multiple attempts to improve their time. The most well-coordinated teams manage to build the structure in less than 15 seconds.
Objective: This activity is designed to involve participants to understand the concept of process optimization, continual improvement and also on leadership i.e effective and target oriented facilitation.
Activity Description: Participants engage in a simulated board game where the objective of the game is to get from one camp to another camp. The parameters of the board game take place in a jungle. In the process, participants will have to make decisions as to whether to take a safe route or manage risk where there are shorter ways to the finish line but higher risks are involved.
Objective: This activity shifts people’s perception towards risks. To have the wisdom of taking calculated risks when it comes to decision making can help better prepare them when facing unsuspecting changes.
